EEO and TSPC Questions

Effective January 1, 2011, two important system updates were implemented at the request of and in cooperation with OSPA, in response to recent changes in state policies.

1.  The application will display the newly worded regional (statewide) background questions created and adopted by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).   FOR YOUR INFORMATION, a list of both the old and new questions are attached to this post, below.  Please note the following:

• If you are a posting or recruiting  (aka "Standard") client these new questions will automatically replace the ones currently on your application.  Any previously provided answers (to the old questions) will still be visible to you, but applicants will see only the new questions as unanswered.  
• If you are a client with a customized site (aka Private Label) nothing will change with your current question assignments:  the new questions will be active and available for you to add to your applications, but will NOT be automatically updated (you must do this yourself, or ask EdZapp for assistance).  

2.  Race and Ethnicity questions (part of the EEO module for Private Label districts only) have been expanded and adjusted to reflect the new Federal (and state) reporting requirements.  More specifically, a new "Race" question asks whether the applicant is Hispanic (yes/no), and then allows selection of one or more "Ethnicities" from a list.  In both cases, the applicant is given the option, "Decline to Provide," and reminded that answers will not affect the consideration of the application.  Please also be aware that your district's EEO statement (the same one that appears on the job postings) now ALSO appears within the EEO module.  

You should be aware that in both cases (new TSPC and new EEO questions), applicant answers prior to 1/1/2011 will still be maintained but will not be visible to the applicant; instead, the applicant will be asked to answer the new questions.  Since most of these questions changed only slightly, some applicants may feel like they "already answered these questions," but this is necessary to ensure there is no mis-interpretation of their answers.
